Fashion,glamour,pictorial and period costume photographer. Frequently using body painting.Castings and motivational therapy for any model. That is a service we should all provide.The old maxim is as long as its a top shot go for it.Now selling to all pictorials National AUST and international London to New York.LA to Paris.
I do not pull punches,if an image is poor I will say so,if a model is not what she can be I will say so.Honesty is everhting.We hate using photo shop,the model should be trim well posed and not be carrying excess weight.
Simple exercise not starvation does that.
As a model-If starting out,commision a good photographer and team and spend the money.Ask agents "What do you want in a set of images" that is what you target.Just do not insult a photogpaher by saying, give me a TFP model folio,which costs us money,only to have an agency then charge us the earth for a person we promoted. Model gets ahead,paid,agency gets paid, TFP - we need another promotional image like a hole in the head.

Best advise I can give a model-Work just outside your comfort zone every time, so the circle of the comfort zone increases and you are more relaxed.So if starting remember everyone did.Do so in a test shoots or series of them so errors can be left in a small studio and not on business.Every new format a challenge,but straighten yourself and say "I can do it".

My models often see me exhausted and are scared for me. Unless you shoot every shot as if it is going to be your last, then your cheating yourself and the subject.I have been beaten,hospitalised,almost killed many times in this business and 4 of my dear friends are memories in rice fields somewhere.We were all young and not so young photojournalists, and i laugh at all the young bucks complaining about not being able to photograph this building etc.
Ain't life tough,aim to be the best in anything and expect the kicks.Young faces say "out of the way old man".
Well when you have the mileage and the ability to take the punches, then I'll move over, until then,prove your worth.
So I will near kill myself to get you the best chance, so work with me.

On this site-My comments are based on many years in the profession,some are scared of them.But i am aware that it is the little things,which when improved will secure you success.
For me to say something like "fantastic" is a lie. I have to say "If this is altered it will help you" My images are published that way,I have had 22 models in my own agency and 300 in association with another agency and now just the 180 in a third agency.That agency owner is unable to say NO. So I have to do it for him,so I am the big bad man,i think many can make it,with good make up etc.But also have to be practical.Those with low experience need support.
And if i suggest a model is suited to certain formats and you do not normally do them it is based on sales not pesonal taste.The classic example is the hour glass figure,lovely face at 5 foot with a large bust,hence little catwalk availabilty but ideal for glamour.To suggest catwalk to such a model among 5.10 + girls will only cause her embarrasment.
I may not make many friends,because pleasing people may be a marketable success but I help models and photographic talent achieve.Not lie to them.
